Futureco Bioscience has presented the Communication On Progress Report (COP) 2017, renewing its commitment engaged since 2014 with the United Nations Global Compact, uniting its 10 principles based on Human and Labour Rights, Environment and Anticorruption, to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.
In the current year, COP has been presented in two languages: Spanish and English, and in a more instructive format to not only present the actions, tools and indicators with which Futureco Bioscience implements its CSR, but also to illustrate to its stakeholders a methodology to implement good CSR practices in an informative and simple way, in aim to foster partnerships for the fulfilment of Sustainable Development Goals, in accordance with SDG 17.
Among the novelties undertaken in the field of CSR this year, being aware that to do things well requires investment, constant reformulation and evaluation, Futureco Bioscience has renewed and updated ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 Certifications, fully implemented OHSAS 18001 and a traceability system to ensure transparency, quality and waste reduction in our production systems.
Two years ago Futureco Bioscience started a line of solid and granulated formulations, in order to reduce water consumption and weight of the final product, such as FitoMaat, Botamisol 80 Pro, Defender Active Zn, Defender Active Mg and Defender Active Fe. This could lead to reduce the carbon footprint in the transport of these products, as also the plastic waste derived from the use of bottles of agrochemical products. This year, in addition, Futureco Bioscience engages a new project of packaging that will reduce by 90% the plastic residues of biofertilizers and liquid biostimulants of its pipeline.
In words of CEO Rafael Juncosa: “This year, our role as leaders in CSR of the Spanish and international agricultural inputs sector is more consolidated, and our experience is more mature, although we have many challenges to continue improving and moving towards a more sustainable business model, for many more years. That is why we express our clear will to continue making progress and renew our commitment to the United Nations Global Compact.
